A lot of pages in the internet have many different navigations. Mostly they have in common, that one become acquainted with the navigation and to cope with it. Why not provide a navigation, like it is used in e.g. Windows XP? A such desktop-system should known to every internet-surfer, so that the time of practice should very low. Further in such a system its possible to display many information on the screen simultanously, namely in windows. Out of this idea JSWins, the JavaScript-Desktop-System, arised. It has many function that are well-known from Windows XP like:
- a startmenu across one can execute content-pages and actions
- a window-management with all functions belonging to it (moving, resizing, minimizing, maximizing, etc.)
- a taskbar at the bottom edge, where the windows are additinally stored
- a tray-area, where laid down special links
- so-called "Balloon-Messages", which can tell about news
- desktop-icons for fast access to certain content-pages New is, if one compare JSWins with Windows XP, that the desktop-state is automatically stored (Cookie). Similarly to the "hibernate"-mode of Windows XP. So windows and desktop-icons were, on next visit, restored, like one left before. JSWins is a completely new kind of internet-presence, based on proved technologies. If the system proven and for the "normal" internet-surfer is a gain or if it interact rather bad compared to the surf-behaviour, must be temporised. In any case i pleased for every feedback (Link in Start-Menu). Sure is, that JSWins is a good example for what is presently possible with JavaScript and dynamic HTML. Unfortunately one met also technical borders. So JSWins is not appropriate to navigate through pages outside of this homepage. Further information to the project (like e.g. system-requirements, background-information, a small manual, etc.) can be found on the JSWins (JavaScript-Desktop-System)-page. I wish a lot of fun while clicking and testing the functionality... P.S.: For more surf-amusement best press the F11-key (fullscreen-mode).
