Manual

The operation of the system should theoretically be selfexplained, because first all actions based on desktop-systems like e.g. Windows and second while hovering over action-areas always a hint (Tooltip) is displayed, which describes, which mouse-buttons cause which action at this position.
Window In the following picture the button-areas and components respectivly of the window explained:
JSWins - Explanation to the w...
Taskbar / Startmenu / Language-selection
JSWins - TaskbarWhen clicking on START, a menu appears, in that various content-pages of the homepage displayed and certain actions can be executed. While hovering over the entries of the menu, on the left upper corner an explanation viewed.
Further in the taskbar for every window a button disrobed. One press with the left mouse-button activates the corresponding window and moves it to front or minimizes it. A right-click closes the window. A blue-blinking marker signalizes additionally, that a new window was opened.
Over "DE" and "EN" respectivly at the right one can change the language for the GUI.
By clicking on the tray-symbols one gets quick to specific pages.

Desktop-Icons
The icons can be dragged and moved with the left mouse-button. A double-click opens the link (icon is marked red). One single click only selects the icon to enable e.g. deleting it over "Del"-key.
There are 2 types of desktop-icons:
- One icon that opens exactly one content-page
- One that opens several pages simultanously (named window-sets)
Creation of desktop-icons is possible by pressing the d-key while hovering over links (in startmenu).
Keep in mind, that when JSWins is opend in a smaller window as on the last visit, the desktop-icons, that lies now outside, are new arranged and positioned respectively.

Load / Save
The actual state, when leaving JSWins, will be saved in a cookie and restored on the next visit. Following are saved:
- Windows with position, size, arrangement (overlap), order in taskbar
- Desktop-Icons inclusive position
- selected language
Not saved are:
- History of windows
- position, size and state of the HP-Explorer
To save many states, it is possible to export the actual state into a bookmark. Thereby a link to JSWins is created, who appended the stateinformation via a parameter. If one wants later restore this state, only a click on the bookmark is necessary. Keep in mind, that the desktop-icons are not saved in this state, because this would cause losses during use. E.g. when one saves a state in a bookmark and later on creates icons and leaving JSWins. If one no loads this bookmark the just now created icons are lost. Furthermore every bookmark-state would have its own desktop-icons, what globally makes little sense.
From the technical aspect it is to mention, that the size of cookies and bookmarks are limited. A cookie should not be greater than 4 KB and a bookmark not greater than 2 KB. This is absolute sufficient, because the state is compressed by lempel-ziv-algorithm before saving.

HP-Explorer
JSWins - HP-ExplorerThe HP-Explorer opens automatically himself, if one opens a content-page of the homepage. In it the directory-structure of the homepage is tree-like visualized. Over "+" and "-" one can fold and open the different levels without opening a content-page. A mouse-click on the text opens the corresponding page.
Keep in mind, that the HP-Explorer always refers to the actual (aktive, focused) window. So a link is displayed in this window, if the link-click-behaviour of that window is set to "THIS". If one wants to open a link from HP-Explorer to open in a new window, one must set the link-click-behaviour of the actual window to "NEW". Further that line in HP-Explorer is marked (black, bold), which refers to the actual window.
HP-Explorer cannot closed. But one can minimize him to taskbar, if not needed. If one closes the last content-page of the homepage, the HP-Explorer closes too. To display now an content-page one must use the startmenu or a desktop-icon.
