Tips

In the following some tips to PIEdit:
Diverse:
- Writing reduction/enlargement with programs possible, in which one changes the syntax highlight file
- During clip board use to external programs the buttons of the upper border should used, otherwise there can be problems with the line interlacings (Unix/DOS).
- To printing MS Word or equivalent software should be used
- Binary and Unix mode are equivalent of the representation and storage
- In the lower toolbar there are buttons to shift the current tab in the representation to the left or right
- Programs one in Java one best create a file of name e.g. "cs.rtf" and puts there calls for compiling and execution (see example listing)
- University of Freiburg (Unix): Directories in the selection of files window not to be indicated can be entered in the file option field, and thus contents of the directory are represented. (Example: Access to ".public_html" - the directory with university homepage)
- To indicate for a file individual tab stops, one can do this e.g. with the line "EXECUTEONOPEN TABSTOPS THIS POSITION 2 5 8 11 14 17 70 ENDEXECUTE". Hereby the first tab-stop adjusted to 2, the 2. to 5, the 3. to 8,… and the latter to 70.
- There is a counter for e.g. compiler calls. For this you must only remark at the beginning of a block ( [IMG:execute::all/images_con/projects/piedit/16/exe16.gif]- Button) #0000000#. The number within the # is increased with each execution by 1. Note: The number must have exactly 7 numbers. (For an example see example/cs.rtf)
- Is while pressing the execute- Button no text selected, the complete line is treated as action. This applies also to changes of style.  Cut/Copy/Paste: Best one uses only the internal clip board actions over the Buttons ( [IMG:CUT:left:all/images_con/projects/16/Cut16.gif] [IMG:CoPy::all/images_con/projects/16/Copy16.gif] [IMG:paste::all/images_con/projects/16/Paste16.gif]) or over the concerned shortcuts (alt x, alt c, alt v).
To consider one must here, that into the system clip board only the text is handed over, which is called, style information does not appear in external programs after paste.
If one uses nevertheless Strg x, Strg c or Strg v, then this gives the problem that the editor attaches the text to the end of the file when "inserting" (paste) a copied text from e.g. a HTML side, instead of inserting it at the current cursor position. (This problem is conditioned however to the Java interpreter, and is not because of my programming, and can be gone around by the internal clip board action (alt v).
Short-cuts: Several keyboard short cuts.
So the tabs can be e.g. focused over the short-cuts alt-1, alt-2, etc.
alt w = close file
alt n = new file
alt o = open file
alt s = save file
alt e = execute script/program (selected text)
alt z = undo (retrogressive)
alt y = redo (repeat)
alt x, alt c, alt v = cutting, copying, inserting
alt f, alt b: Forward of and/or reverse finder
